Trump Account $250 Deposit: Dell Foundation Gift for Kids Under 10
Up to 25 million children age 10 and under can receive a $250 charitable deposit from the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation into their Trump Account. Here is who qualifies and how to get it.
Who qualifies for the $250 deposit
Your child may be eligible if they meet all three conditions. They were born before January 1, 2025 (so they do not qualify for the $1,000 government deposit). They are age 10 or younger. They live in a ZIP code where the median household income is less than $150,000.
The Dell Foundation committed $6.25 billion to fund these deposits for up to 25 million children. This is a one-time charitable gift, not a government program. It is separate from the $1,000 government deposit which only applies to children born 2025 through 2028.
How to claim the $250
Open a Trump Account for your child through the official Trump Accounts app (available on the App Store and Google Play) or at trumpaccounts.gov. Once the account is open and your child's eligibility is verified, the $250 deposit should appear automatically. You do not need to apply separately for the Dell Foundation gift.
If your child also qualifies for the $1,000 government deposit (born 2025-2028), the two deposits are not combined. Children born in the 2025-2028 window get the $1,000. Children born before 2025 who meet the ZIP code requirement get the $250. A child cannot receive both.
How the $250 grows
The $250 sits in the same US stock index fund as all Trump Account money. At an average 10% annual return, $250 grows to roughly $650 by the time a 10-year-old turns 18 (8 years of growth). For a newborn it would grow more, but children under 10 born before 2025 are the target group.
If you add the maximum $5,000 per year in contributions on top of the $250 seed, the account grows substantially faster. Use the Trump Account calculator to see projections at different contribution levels.

Which ZIP codes qualify for the $250 Dell deposit
There is no published list of qualifying ZIP codes. Eligibility works from one rule: the median household income in your ZIP code must be under $150,000, based on Census data. That threshold is generous. The vast majority of US ZIP codes fall under it, since only a few hundred of the wealthiest ZIP codes in the country have a median household income above $150,000.
You do not need to research your ZIP code yourself. The Trump Accounts app and trumpaccounts.gov check it automatically when you open the account. If you want to check ahead of time anyway, look up your ZIP code's median household income on the Census Bureau's QuickFacts site. If the number is below $150,000, your ZIP qualifies.
The practical takeaway: unless you live in one of the most expensive neighborhoods in America, assume your ZIP qualifies and let the app confirm it.
